Continuous Growth

A Stable partner to grow your business

1988

We were formed in 1988 in Swansea, comprising of one manual IGU production line. Since then, we have been driven by a clear vision to provide our customers with what they want, when they want it, and at a fair price. In the early 1990s, a customer base was established in Wales and along the M4 corridor to London.

Milestones

of Press Glass history

  • 1996

The subsequent years saw an increase in business, and the need to toughen our glass, which resulted in setting up our in-house toughening facility known as Vizor Tempered glass Ltd in Port Talbot.

  • 2003

Our expansion continued, and in 2003 a move to a purpose-built factory in Swansea, and the investment to automate many of the processes became a necessity. This 50,000 sq. ft. purpose-built factory set up with three robotic Sealed Unit lines, two autoloading cutting lines, and three spacer bar benders, can produce almost 30,000 Sealed Units per week. This combined with the latest state-of-the-art electronic ordering, optimisation, and planning software meant that we could expand into Southern and Southeast England.

  • 2007

In 2007 we acquired a factory based just north of Cardiff. This site was based on the flagship site in Swansea to provide a common brand for us. This gave us the further capacity and the ability to service an increased geographical area from Southwest England to the Northwest of England.

Press Glass Direct is equipped with two robotic Sealed Unit lines, two autoloading cutting lines, an automatic glass arriser, and a Cool-temper toughening furnace. Along with our state-of-the-art software, this factory can produce up to 17,000 Insulated Glass Units per week.

  • 2009

In 2009 we established Climate Glass, a brand-new portfolio of Insulated Glass Units dedicated to the conservatory and roof glass market. Over time the brand’s reputation has continued to grow and has been characterised by many advanced features, significantly increasing users’ interior comfort. Our Climate Glass products are available within our Advanced Glass Options range.

The model of services offered to customers by us and the intro-duction of Climate Glass saw an upsurge of new customers. As a result, the company made a further investment to give current and prospective customers exactly what they wanted, when they wanted it, and at a fair price.

  • 2010

Thanks to our customers’ trust in 2010, we became the leading producer of Insulated Glass Units for the fenestration industry, with the largest share of the UK’s market. Since then, our customers have further benefit ed thanks to the continuous increase in our stability and capacity. In turn, this has assisted our customers in their business growth.

  • 2014

In 2014 we invested in a new 40,000 sq. ft. factory in Peterborough. Chosen for its location, which is just off the A1 motorway to supply Insulated Glass Units into Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, East Anglia, and South Yorkshire. The site is equipped with three robotic Sealed Unit lines, three cutting lines, and a Tamglass 2448 Pro Convection Toughening furnace. The site pro- duces over 20,000 Insulated Glass Units per week.

  • 2015

In 2015 we became part of the globally active Press Glass Group, the largest independent IGU manufacturer for the construction and window industry in Europe. This meant that we became part of global organisation. We started the process of merging our values, advantages, and methods of operation to give more benefits to our customers.

  • 2017

In 2017 we acquired two factories in the UK from Pilkington, one in Barnsley and the other located just outside Glasgow. Our vision was to invest and grow both and continue to strengthen our share of the UK market and provide national coverage.

  • 2023

In 2023 we acquired land in Port Talbot, South Wales. We currently have three factories located close to each other. This new state of the art factory will house the three sites in one, offering new technology and machinery. We will be able to increase our production capacity from 40,000 > 60,000 IGU’s per week and enhance our current support to our customers within the IGU sector for the residential market in the UK.

  • 2024

Our business continues to grow and strengthen, which is driven by the quality of our products, the service we provide and the introduction of new innovations within our sites. We have decided that now is the right time to re-launch as Press Glass, realigning our brand identities with our parent company. This is a natural progression for us, and it will not only be a benefit for our company but also strengthen the business within our industry. We will become Press Glass on the 1st April 2024.
