Glass Systems supporting Macmillan’s cancer support

This year, and for the first time, Glass Systems decided to let employees nominate a charity that the company would support with them for the next year. It is something we plan to do every year ongoing.

We selected several great causes that covered the complete spectrum and sent out a poll to our employees giving them the opportunity to make their vote count in selecting the charity. The charity with the most votes would be our chosen charity.

40% of the charity survey said we should support Macmillan Cancer over the next 12 months.

Over the course of the next 12 months, we will be developing a national campaign across our six sites where employees and the organisation working together can support Macmillan Cancer.

We hope we can have fun together, with events and challenges, achieve our goals, while also donating to an important cause.

The Company is matching the value raised by employees.

Our team from AG Barnsley decided to walk up Lose Hill in an effort to raise money and collected an amazing £222. Whilst the company promoted Macmillan’s “October 100 Mile Challenge”. We have had a great response from our employees!

Unfortunately, many of us will come into contact with cancer personally or through friends and family. Macmillan helps people who are worried about cancer, and you can find out about tests and scans, and read advice to help understand a diagnosis. They have information about the different types of treatments, their side effects, and the options available. After treatment, find out about follow-up care, managing treatment effects, and making healthy lifestyle changes. Plus they have exceptional nurse support. They say that “whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you” providing physical, financial and emotional support.
